For the past ten years, Bicycle Advocacy of Central Arkansas (BACA) has organized Bike to Work Day to encourage people to bike to work. Bike to Work Day, a project of the League of American Bicyclists, is held throughout the country during May, National Bike Month. This year, BACA is partnering with Metroplan‘s Ozone Action Days and the cities of Little Rock and North Little Rock in sponsoring Bike to Work Day. We want Central Arkansas residents to “Ditch the Keys” and use alternate forms of transportation other than the personal automobile to help prevent the formation of harmful ground level ozone during the hot summer months. A great way to get started Ditching your Keys is to join bicyclists around the country by participating in Bike to Work Day, May 18th. Convoys of bicycle commuters will ride to and from work on May 18th throughout Central Arkansas. An experienced cyclist will lead each convoy.
