Oz Cross @ Fayetteville | Arkansas | United States

Time to get serious! Join us for a two-day event on the USA Cycling ACXC National Cyclocross Calendar. Racers of all levels are welcome to participate.

Two days of racing in Northwest Arkansas over Veterans Day weekend just a few minutes from downtown Fayetteville. Monday is a national holiday, so it’s easy to take a trip to beautiful Fayetteville, Arkansas for racing at a challenging new venue.

$1,500 total prize list for Elite Women and Elite Men each day – equal prize money. Merchandise prizes for all other categories.

Juniors race FREE!

Oz Cross is the weekend before the Undercross ACXC race in Sapulpa, OK, which together will be a great way to tune your form for Nationals. We recommend looking for lodging in nearby Rogers, Springdale, or Bentonville, as Fayetteville will be packed due to Razorback Football taking place on the same weekend.

Traveling to Oz Cross by plane? Save a headache and ship your bike with BikeFlights.

Veterans Memorial 5K @ Fayetteville National Cemetery
Nov 10 @ 8:00 am – 9:30 am

Course

Water will be provided along the course and road crossings are guarded.

The 5K course will begin near the entrance to the Fayetteville National Cemetery, 700 S. Government Blvd., but was substantially revised in 2014, thanks to completion of the trail to the north of the Cemetery.  That course will be used again this year.

We will begin the race by circling the Cemetery.

This map is available in more detail at:  http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6436859

Proceeds go to purchase land for expansion. The Cemetery, one of only 147 National Cemeteries in the entire country, opened in 1867. Since 1984, the non-profit Regional National Cemetery Improvement Corporation has raised money to purchase and clear land to expand Fayetteville National Cemetery. The purchases, since turned over to federal government, have more than tripled the size of the Cemetery. But Fayetteville National Cemetery gets closer to full every day.  The Veterans Memorial 5K is our largest fundraiser.  Right now we don’t have enough funds for another lot purchase. Please help us get more land!

Attila the Hun Mountain Bike Race @ Cedar Glades Park
Nov 18 @ 8:00 am – 1:00 pm
Attila the Hun Mountain Bike Race @ Cedar Glades Park | Arkansas | United States

From a 2013 Attila the Hun article:

I’ve been riding the trails at Cedarglades for over 10 years, I helped lay out an adventure race course there, covered two 6-hour mountain bike races, a couple of running races, 3 Atilla the Hun Mountain Bike Races, a night time waterless (except for some rain) triathlon and even the first ever cyclocross race held in the park. I’ve laid in Bull Bayou Creek which runs through the middle of the park to cool off after riding on a hot summer day, I’ve ridden it on January 1st in a cold rain just to get in my first of the year mountain bike ride. I know every little shortcut to get from one side of the course to the other on foot in about 10 minutes but…(more)

Red Beard’s Hilly Half Marathon @ VFW
Nov 18 @ 8:00 am – 1:00 pm

Pirate Perry Events

Scenic route takes you along the beautiful town of Cotter, Arkansas.  Enjoy breathtaking scenic views through this hilly menace of a course!  Prepare yourself to traverse multiple mountains along the White River, in Cotter Arkansas. There is nearly 100 feet of gain per mile, including a few miles of flat-ish road along the river’s edge. (Flat-ish – adjective, mostly horizontal, level if you ask a local.) Several of the hills exceed a 15% gradient and one climb is nearly a 25% incline.  Along the route, you’ll cross bridges, pass early 1900s architecture, and earn views from multiple overlooks. This is a 100% paved, open course.  It will be well marked, and supported by the community of Cotter, but there will be vehicle traffic along the route.  Bring a camera and challenge yourself – if you’re tough enough.

The Great Duck Race 5K/ 10K @ Farmers and Merchants Bank
Nov 24 @ 8:00 am

The Great Duck Race

You don’t have to be a hunter to enjoy the Wings Over The Prairie Festival. The week-long festivities aren’t solely for waterfowl enthusiasts. They include plenty of events for sportsmen and athletes who seek other endeavors in World of Sports besides hunting.

One of the most popular events, which draws athletes from across the state of Arkansas and the nation, is the annual Baptist-Health Great Duck Race. More than 200 runners compete each year in the 10,000 meter run (6.2 miles). In 2013, a 5k Race was added and will continue in 2014. The event often features some of the state’s best distance runners testing a flat and fast course.

Runners can set a blistering pace because the course is so flat. And there is another factor which helps athletes. Since the Baptist-Health Great Duck Race takes place toward the end of November, the weather can be a great asset.

The air is usually crisp and cool the morning of the race, giving runners near-perfect weather to cover the 10,000 meters before the finish line.

Every runner who enters the Baptist-Health Great Duck Race receives an official race t-shirt. Awards are also given to winners of individual age divisions.

Course Information

Arkansas MG Walk @ Lake Dardanelle State Park
Dec 1 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Arkansas MG Walk @ Lake Dardanelle State Park | Russellville | Arkansas | United States

Participants affected by myasthenia gravis will gather to celebrate the lives of MG patients, physicians and caregivers, and walk to raise awareness and funds to support the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA) at the Arkansas MG Walk on Saturday, December 1 at Lake Dardanelle State Park in Russellville.

Funds raised by the MG Walk Campaign are vital in making the MGFA’s vision of “a world free of myasthenia gravis” come to life. The National MG Walk Campaign is celebrating our 8th year of raising funds and awareness for the MG Community, having raised over $5.5 million dollars since our first Walks back in 2011. Funds raised from the MG Walk help support research initiatives, advocacy efforts, programs and services, and resources for those living with MG and their families.

What is Myasthenia Gravis (MG)?
MG affects people of any age, race or gender. The most common form of MG is a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disorder that is characterized by fluctuating weakness of the voluntary muscle groups, and can affect muscles that control eye movements, eyelids, chewing, swallowing, coughing and facial expression as well as the arms and legs. MG can also affect breathing.

About the MGFA
The MGFA is the only national volunteer health agency dedicated solely to the fight against myasthenia gravis and to serving patients with MG. With monies raised from the MGWalk, the MGFA is committed to finding a cure for myasthenia gravis and closely related disorders, improving treatment options and providing information and support to people with myasthenia gravis through research, education, community programs, and advocacy.

MG Awareness
At the Arkansas MG Walk, many have made a major contribution to making the world aware of myasthenia gravis and contributing to MG research and patient programs. Now, we’re asking them to do even more. We want Walkers to wear their T-shirt, talk about the Walk, and help raise funds towards the mission of the MGFA. Please help us spread the word about MG and the MG Walk everywhere you can. To learn more about what you can do for MG Awareness, visit the MGFA website at www.myasthenia.org and the MG Walk website at www.MGWalk.org.
