Race 13.1 – Little Rock @ Clinton Presidential Center

The Southeast’s Premier Half Marathon series continues to grow, holding its first race in the state of Arkansas with the inaugural Race 13.1 Little Rock on September 20. Located in the city that USA TODAY readers recently named the No. 3 best travel-worth state capital, the course will have a great mix of local Little Rock sites and beautiful greenways and trails, including the Clinton Presidential Park Bridge, Arkansas River Trail, Riverfront Park and Burns Park.

The mostly flat course will start and finish at the Clinton Presidential Center located in downtown Little Rock before following an out-and-back route along the Arkansas River on the North Little Rock side. After the race, be sure to visit one of the nearby parks as well as the Little Rock River Market – one of Little Rock’s ‘best spots to eat, shop, play and stay!’ While you’re there, check out the farmer’s market, live music and other activities, and great options for shopping and eating.

Slaughter Pen Jam is a three day festival for riders of all ages. Friday’s Trials and BMX Events on the Downtown Square in Bentonville kick off the Festival with over 3,000 spectators and riders. On Saturday we open “The Pen” at Slaughter Pen Hollow Park with, live music, food, vendors, giveaways, drag races, guided rides, kids events, jump competitions, and much more! On Sunday we get serious with our Arkansas Mountain Bike Championship Series Race.

Course Details:
Very fast 10 mile trail you can really hammer on. Climbing is limited and the course is hard packed and very tight and twisty.
Lodging:
Camping is available at the park.
Call 479-452-4598 for reservations. Additional lodging is abundant in the town of Fort Smith, AR, approx. 10 minutes away.
Directions to Race:
From Fort Smith: Head north on I-540, after crossing the Arkansas River look for hwy 59. Go South on hwy 59. After crossing the Arkansas River on 59 watch for the signs to the park.

From Little Rock & Fayetteville: Heading south on I-540, before crossing the Arkansas River Bridge look for hwy 59. Go South on hwy 59. After crossing the Arkansas River on 59 watch for the signs to the park.
USA Cycling Licenses:
All riders who do not pre-register on-line thru USA Cycling will be required to present a valid USA Cycling MT Bike license at site registration. Please renew or purchase your USA Cycling license (one day or annual) online prior to race day.
Registration:
To avoid waiting in line on race day, online registration is highly recommended. (small transaction fee applies) go to; https://www.usacycling.org/register/2014-2984 New this year, racers (except Juniors) may electronically sign the USAC standard release form. All participants must sign (onsite or electronically) a USAC standard release form to participate. Just log into your USA Cycling account – if you do not have one you may create one for no charge at www.usacycling.org Race-day registration will be available as well and opens at 8am and closes 30 mins prior to your race. Online (pre-reg) closes 10/116/201511:00 PM CST. Save yourself some time and money by registering ONLINE!
AMBCS Hard Plate:
IMPORTANT: This year the AMBCS requires you to purchase a series license Hard Plate. You will not be allowed to race unless you purchase one of these licenses. AMBCS representatives will be available race day to answer any questions and sell plates. Prices are $5 per plate for CAT 1/Pro, CAT 2 and CAT 3 (19 and older). CAT 3 (18 and under) are no charge. Novice class does not require hard plate. This is a one-time charge for the race year. The Hard Plate is your race number for the entire season, please do not lose it!
Novice Class:
Once again, we will be offering a novice class category for racers. This class is for the true beginner. In order to qualify, you may not have raced in a USA Cycling event in the past 24 months. This category is meant to give new racers a chance to compete without having to compete against seasoned veterans. It is not tracked in the AMBCS point series.
Proceeds:
A portion of the proceeds will go to River Valley Cycling, for use towards mountain bike trail building and maintenance.and also to other local charities in the Ft. Smith area.

Awards:  In 5k, 10k and 1/2 Marathon medals are given to male and female, each age group, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, 1/2 Marathon participants will receive a finishers medal as well.

The Kessler Trail Run is a community event led by Fayetteville Natural Heritage Association, Pack Rat Outdoor Center, the City of Fayetteville, and partners to raise money for Kessler Mountain in Fayetteville, AR. Runners can choose between a 10K and a 20K route through scenic trails on Kessler Mountain. Event registration includes admission to the after-party, with food, drink, and live music. All proceeds benefit the conservation efforts of Kessler Mountain.

Been thinking of getting the kids into the race scene? The ‪#‎OORC‬ is excited to announce any and all Junior Race Classes (14 & Under) Entree Fees have been covered and all kiddos will race FOR FREE! All parents have to do is bring the kiddos, visit registration, and the rest is taken care of!

An Environmentally Friendly Race

This year’s Battle For Townsend Ridge XC Race will have a larger focus on sustainability and the event having a ZERO Impact on the environment.

The ‪#‎OORC‬ has partnered with Waste Management to make this happen but the accountability falls on us all! When attending this years event please utilize the various recycling stations that will be set up on the grounds… And recycle properly.

By eliminating waste streams and recycling, we are looking forward to a great event while minimizing impact of the area!

CANE CREEK TIMBERLAND MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE

(STAR CITY, Ark.)—The Cane Creek Timberland Mountain Bike Race to be held at Cane Creek State Park

Cane Creek State Park is in Lincoln County near Star City. From Star City, travel five miles

east on Ark. 293 to the park. It is one of the 52 state parks administered by the State Parks Division

of the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism.

The course is eight miles of fast-moving trails that run through the first hills of the Gulf Coastal Plain. The park features over 18 miles of trails with 52 bridges that are open to both riders and hikers after the conclusion of the race and throughout the year.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. and ends at 9 a.m. at pavilion 2
Heats starting at 9 a.m. with the Junior racers at pavilion 1
We ask that all junior and CAT 3 race participants be registered by 8:30 a.m.

Entry fees and distances are as such:
Juniors $20 (8 miles, 1 lap)
CAT 3 $30 (8 miles, 1 lap)
CAT 2 $35 (16 miles, 2 laps)
CAT 1 $40 (24 miles, 3 laps)
All riders are responsible for one-day permits ($10) or annual license’s ($70 Adult $35 for Youth 18 and under), and their hard plate ($5 each). All can be purchased the day of the race at the time of registration, youth 14 and under are not required to purchase a hard plate. License’s and one-day race permits can be bought prior to the race through USAcycling.com. Pre-registration is available through USAcycling.com.

Vera Lloyd Presbyterian Family Services hosts its 4th annual Turkey Trot in Monticello, Arkansas. The 5K run/walk and one mile fun run for kids is a mostly flat court that begins and ends at Vera Lloyd’s children’s home. Penguin 10K for Special Olympics

Race starts and finishes in a new location in 2016: downtown Batesville, AR. In addition, the 5K has been dropped this year, but the race will be followed by the annual Polar Plunge benefit, which will be a dip in a chilly pool at the Municipal Building lot.

Mamie’s Poppy Plates is a donation supported non-profit whose mission is to provide tangible mementos to families who suffer stillbirth or infant death. Our keepsake plates, given to affected families at no charge, are customized with the baby’s footprints, name, and birth information. Mamie’s Poppy Plates exists not to fill the impossible void of loss but to serve as a timeless reminder of their baby’s brief yet profound life.

Race History
2018 marks the 20th running of the Arkansas Runner 2-Mile race. This race is open to runners and walkers of all abilities.

Course Description
The race takes place around downtown Benton. The start is one block south of the Saline County Courthouse on Market Street and heads south for one block. A left turn on Smith Street is followed by another left onto Main Street which brings you back by the courthouse. The course goes North for approximately 1/2 mile where a left on Narroway and sends the runners into a residential neighborhood of Benton. The course takes a right and runs around Crestwood Drive and is followed by another right back onto Narroway St. A left on Evans Drive is followed by another left onto North Street which leads back to the courthouse where the race finishes back on Market

  • All proceeds benefits Saline County Boys and Girls Club in Benton
