BACA “Blood Road” Screening – Little Rock @ The Root Cafe
May 15 @ 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm
BACA “Blood Road” Screening - Little Rock @ The Root Cafe | Little Rock | Arkansas | United States

People ride bikes for many reasons. Often the opportunity to ride in honor or memory of someone is what spurs us to ride further on a different path. On this Worldwide Ride of Silence Day, Bicycle Advocacy of Central Arkansas is grateful to share such a journey through the award-winning documentary, “Blood Road.”

Although she’s used to pushing her body to its limit, nothing could prepare ultra-endurance
mountain biker Rebecca Rusch for the emotional journey she took in 2015 when she pedaled 1200
miles of the Ho Chi Minh trail in search of the crash site that claimed the life of her father, a US Air
Force pilot shot down during the Vietnam War. The documentary of this journey, “Blood Road,” won the Bentonville Filmfest in 2017.

On the day Rebecca is scheduled to complete the inaugural ride of the Arkansas High Country Bike Route, BACA presents a free outdoor screening of “Blood Road” in The Root parking lot following the 2019 Worldwide Ride of Silence, https://www.facebook.com/events/2363907907173859/?ti=icl

The Root will be open and serving dinner until 9 pm and beverages until 10 pm. Bring your own chair or picnic blanket plus money for meals and/or refreshments if desired.

Screening of Blood Road will begin at 8 pm.

Time is either spent wisely or it is just spent. Second after second; minute after minute; moment after moment… they’re all there for the taking. All you need is a simple machine that that defies boundaries and knows no limits.

This is Return to Earth, the ninth feature from award-winning adventure filmmakers Anthill Films. A cinematic journey that will immediately transport you into that feeling of total immersion you get on a bike ride. Fly through the lush coastal jungles of Oahu. Feel the dust from Utah’s otherworldly landscapes. Lose yourself in the untouched mountains of Patagonia. Connected by true to life examples set by some of the sport’s biggest athletes, unsung shredders and up-and-coming youth, Return to Earth proves that when we lose track of time, we can make the most of it.

Outdoor Gear Swap and Shop @ River Market
Feb 22 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

The Witt Stephens Jr. Central Arkansas Nature Center and Little Rock River Market will host their inaugural Outdoor Gear Swap and Shop from 9 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Little Rock River Market Pavilions.

Central Arkansas is a great place for outdoor lovers.  Whether it’s fishing, hunting, boating, biking, hiking, running or climbing, it can be done right here in Little Rock or within a very short drive.

But some outdoor pursuits require special gear which can be intimidating at first. Those who have enjoyed the outdoors for years may also find managing all their gear can be difficult as they change outdoors hobbies, keep up with new trends or just try to park the car in the garage.

Join us for a day of trading experiences and equipment at the River Market Pavilions. All outdoors gearheads are welcome to clean out their outdoor storage and set up a booth to swap with other outdoor enthusiasts. Civic and church groups as well as individuals, and outdoor gear shops also are welcome to sell their gear outright.

If you’re just getting started in a new outdoor hobby and don’t want to make a huge investment, this will be a great place to visit with others who share your interest, get advice and recommendations, and get started on your outdoor adventure with clean, gently used, outdoor recreation gear.

Call the Central Arkansas Nature Center at 501-907-0636 to reserve a space.
