Due to the need for social distancing surrounding the COVID-19 situation, many of the events listed on our calendar have been canceled or had the dates changed. We are not currently taking down events as we haven’t received any definitives from most event organizers. WE RECOMMEND that you contact the race director or organizer before registering for any event in the next couple of months. We will attempt to keep you informed as we get more information. Thanks.
Our calendar of events lists outdoor participatory sports throughout Arkansas. Feel free to search through the categories or tags. There is a lot happening so make your plans today. Please remember, these are not our events but a listing of Arkansas events that we share through Arkansas Outside.
One Lap. One Mile. One Fast Little Race. There will be different heats, including an elite heat (see below for who is eligible for elite status). All runners are chip timed, results will be based on runner’s time overall, not within their heat. Overall and Age Group results will look like it is one race. Please Note: Awards are based on time, only. At the conclusion of the all the heats, times are consolidated, then Overall and Age Group winners are decided based on time. No awards are given for top finishers in each heat.
The race starts and finishes in front of the historical Clinton Library Museum.
The starting line is located slightly west of Dean Kumpuris Drive on President Clinton Avenue.
As the gun fires, runners make their way along Pres. Clinton Ave and onto E Markam St before turning left onto Sherman St. The race then swoops onto E 3rd St until making a left onto Malhon Martin St. Spectators get a good view of the runners here just past half way as the route quickly turns left onto E 2nd St before a fast right onto Ferry St before making the last turn onto Pres. Clinton Ave. There the runners enter the inspiring tree and spectator lined finishing stretch, ending at the iconic Go! Arch!

Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival
The Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival was created to bring together three Northwest Arkansas cross-country races under a single event. The Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival is now one of the premier running events in America.
Each year over 80 college teams and 120 high school teams battle for prestige and unique Chile Pepper themed awards. Additionally, 750 individuals participate in the Open 10k and 5K Fun Run plus the Tom Lewis 1 Mile Pepper Dash on Friday Night. The event is held at University of Arkansas’ incredible off road course and all runners are invited to enjoy a Hot Mexican food feast following the race.
In 2018, we had another successful year with nearly 6,500 registered athletes. The funds we raised allowed us to support even more high school cross country programs. Your participation contributed to the donation of $75,000 to area High School and Jr. High Cross Country programs this year.

The Spring Fling course starts on Bellamy Street, just outside of the Cabot High School Field House. The route heads south for 1/4 mile before turning left onto Main St. The race moves into a tree-lined residential area, and turns south onto Honeysuckle Ln. The runners will curve along this road, merging onto Linda Lane and continuing south to reach the 1st mile marker. Just after beginning the 2nd mile, the course turns runners south onto G street for a small loop before returning to Linda Lane to head back to the north. Once the runners have returned to Linda Lane they will pass the 2nd mile marker. The third mile returns the runners to Honeysuckle, Main St and then north on Bellamy to pass the starting line. The route then turns into the Field House Parking Lot and turning down the ramp to enter the Stadium. The course turns left on the track where runners will hit the 3 mile marker just before the back turn leaving runners just the turn and a short straightaway until the finish line.
