Welcome to our Calendar of Events.

Arkansas Outside is NOT the owner or organizer of these events (unless otherwise noted). We aggregate these events into this one place to allow our readers a chance to see what outdoor recreation events are going on around the state. There is no need for FOMO when playing outside.

The River Classic

September 21 @ 7:30 am - 3:00 pm

The River Classic
The Community Bicyclist

Get ready for Central Arkansas’ fastest growing cycling event over the last five years – the Young Life River Classic. This event is a fundraiser for Young Life’s Southside youth ministry program that works with teenagers in underserved communities south of I-630. The 2023 ride was our largest to date, and we’re hoping to keep that momentum going in 2024.

NEW IN 2024!

The 2024 River Classic is now part of the Big Dam Bridge 100 official training program. Through a partnership with the Big Dam Bridge Foundation and Arvest Bank, participants in the Big Dam Bridge ride will ride the River Classic as a “Dress Rehearsal” for the following week’s BDB100.  Find out more about the training program here.

What is the River Classic?

  • A USA Cycling-sanctioned, fully supported ride with great fun, food and fellowship
  • This is a fully supported ride, with easy-to-follow route signs, rest stops, and traffic control.
  • A ride with three distance options for every level of cyclists
    • 26 miles for beginners or those that just want to cruise
    • 44 miles for those looking for a weekend challenge
    • 63-mile route for experienced cyclists
