America’s 20 Best Mountain Bike Towns – National Geographic

Although National Geographic didn't brave the list enough to put it in a particular order. Mountain biking Mecca, Bentonville is sitting nicely in this list of America's 20 best mountain bike towns. I have a feeling it won't be long before more Arkansas towns can be added to this list. Of all the places in the country to conduct their mountain bike test last year, Bike magazine chose northwest … [Read more...]

Mountain Bike Trailer Park: The (mini) Van Life – Part Two | Dirt Rag

A great review about the IMBA World Summit held in Bentonville, AR last November. So, I’m a little jealous of what Bentonville has been able to accomplish.  I wish we had a Walton family.  I wish our Governor saw the value of outdoor destinations for drawing talent and tourism, like Arkansas’ Governor Hutchinson has (he even spoke to us about it at the Summit).  But that doesn’t mean we’re giving … [Read more...]

The Governor and Cycling

With less than a year in office, Governor Asa Hutchinson has suddenly rolled into the local cycling scene. I first met Governor Hutchinson during the last Governor's race. I happened to be at Mount Magazine Lodge working with some of the park staff when then candidate Hutchinson was there having lunch. He came over to our table while we were eating to introduce himself. Ever the politician, he … [Read more...]

A Little Recognition Feels Good But…..

...sometimes it means so much more. Every year the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA)  looks over applications and makes site visits to trails and communities around the world; I refer to this as the best job in the world. They do this to highlight the best trail systems and places to ride mountain bikes. Most of the general public, even many mountain bikers, are not familiar … [Read more...]

Exploring the Razorback Greenway – Part 2…

...maybe it's cooler if we head north. (Read Part 1) After arriving back at the hotel late in the afternoon and taking showers, we spent the next hour or so just enjoying the air conditioning. We couldn't stay there all night, we needed some calories and we needed them soon. Although we liked the access to the Razorback Regional Greenway Trail offered by our hotel near the interstate, our … [Read more...]
