Where did they come from?

Last week I posted an article on the 2011 Raid the Rock Adventure Race. The race organizers were kind enough to share the zip codes of the participants with me and I came up with this map: They did miss a zip code from Colorado (late entry) and you can see that this particular adventure race brought visitors to Central Arkansas from as far away as Iowa, South Carolina, Round Rock, Texas and … [Read more...]

What Drives You?

Welcome back to guest blogger, Lisa. Have you ever wondered what makes some women tick? You'll find some answers here. At 5 a.m. Monday, I woke up. Not because the alarm went off, but just because. I got out of bed, put on some workout clothes, got my work bag together and left the house by 5:20. Why? That should be read as WHY!!!?? I had no intention of working out on Monday. The Ouachita Adventure Race

The Ouachita Adventure Race could become a classic! What a great race, 12 hours of running, orienteering, canoeing, rappelling, mountain biking, etc. All just about 1/2 an hour west of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Our team (ExtremeTrek) did not do as well as we would have liked but still had a great time.  We think that those that finished quickly just didn't get to enjoy the course as much as those of … [Read more...]

A Weekend in the Park

We had been planning this weekend for months.  The final race in the Ozark Extreme Adventure Sprint Series would be at Devil's Den State Park.  We had done the other two races at Cane Creek State Park and Village Creek State Park and were excited about the final being at one of my favorite state parks.  I'll write more about the race later, it was only a part of a great weekend. As a final summer … [Read more...]

Sounds great.  The group was formed by adventure race organizer Brandon Butler of Ozark Extreme Adventure Racing.  The … [Read more...]

The Village Creek Race!

Well, I've been on the road all week traveling the great state of Arkansas.  Since my last post, I've been back to eastern Arkansas again, spent Tuesday night at DeGray Lake Resort State Park working on a photo shoot of the golf course, spa and beach.  I then spent Wednesday and Thursday on Friday morning to check out the progress on the new cabins (niiiicccceeee).  Finally I was back in Little … [Read more...]

Tough ride at Village Creek State Park

It was hot and buggy for the 10 miles of mountain biking Lisa and I did at Village Creek State Park.  The key was to keep moving which is why I have no photos.  The trails are well marked and it made it easy to just push through the trail intersections.  It's a tough workout as the loess soil is very loose and can suck your momentum particularly on the trails that are shared with horses. The trail … [Read more...]
